Safeguarding & Parental Responsibility Policy
1. Policy Statement
PIQLBALL Events is committed to ensuring that all participants, including children and young people under the age of 18, can take part in our pickleball tournaments in a safe, positive, and respectful environment. The welfare of junior participants is paramount.
2. Scope
This policy applies to event organisers, tournament directors, volunteers, players, parents, guardians, and spectators. Our tournaments are competitive sporting events and do not provide supervision, coaching, or childcare services.
3. Parental Responsibility
All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Parents/guardians remain fully responsible for the supervision, welfare, and conduct of their child throughout the event. Event organisers do not assume supervisory responsibility for junior participants.
4. Code of Conduct
All adults must treat children with respect and dignity, avoid inappropriate language or behaviour, never be alone with a child who is not their own, and follow event rules at all times. Inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the event.
5. Photography & Media
Photography and video may be taken for promotional purposes. Images of junior participants will only be used where parental consent has been given. Photography must be appropriate and respectful.
6. Reporting Concerns
Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately to the Event Safeguarding Lead. Concerns will be recorded factually and appropriate action taken where necessary.
